HOSTING / PRODUCING
Michelle has been hosting and producing live events and on-camera shows since 2009.
On stage, Michelle has MCed live events at venues such San Diego Comic Con, New York Comic Con, Anime Expo and a multitude of private venues. Whether presenting talent, interviewing guests or gearing up a crowd for a presentation or performance, Michelle has done it all. This year was Michelle’s first as an MC for the Anime Expo 2019 Opening Ceremonies and the Anime Expo Fashion Show in Los Angeles.
On camera, Michelle has appeared as a geek expert, host, and producer on networks such as College Humor, Buzz Feed, HyperRPG, Geek and Sundry, Nerdist, Machinima, Screen Junkies TV Fights and AfterBuzzTV. Michelle specializes in interviews, commentating, movie, game and show reviews, press and event coverage, and speaking about being a woman and person of color in the industry.
Michelle currently writes, produces and stars in the “GotManga? Viz Summer Reading Book Club,” an educational series about manga titles, and “Button Mash,” a weekly deep dive into all things video games over on Total Nerd.
Michelle also previously co-hosted a weekly comedy podcast about Asian pop culture called Senpai buddies.
PROFESSIONAL TABLETOP GAME PLAYER
An avid video gamer and passionate tabletop RPG player since her childhood, Michelle has transformed her love of gaming into an on-screen career as she has appeared on multiple networks as a professional player and gaming expert. She has played characters like Hoa Sen on the Critical Role Elder Scroll’s Blackwood miniseries, Betty on the official Rat Queen's RPG (HyperRPG), a huntress wizard on The Department of Mysteries (Dragons and Things), a Viet granny crime lord on Altered Carbon (Hunters Entertainment), a heavenly Aasimar knight on Broken Pact (Saving Throw Show), an awkward librarian Tremere vampire on Denver by Night (Queuetimes), and many more personas through her work on RPG shows.
